Grow Youngstown Hoop House Skill Share Sept. 15th and 16th 8am to 4pm 221 Fairgreen Ave Youngstown, OH 44504 Hoop House build Grow Youngstown Skill Share Grow Youngstown will build an Undercover Garden (hoop house) across from Fairgreen Neighborhood Garden to provide year round educational opportunities for our Children's Hour programming, season extension for Grow Youngstown's CSA market, market growing opportunity for entrepreneurial gardeners and a community space to start seedlings. This is another step in the creation of an "Edible Corridor" on Ohio Avenue. The new garden site will be a neighbor to existing urban agriculture projects, specifically the Fairgreen Neighborhood Garden and North Quarter Farm. At the skill share, you will be building the hoop house based on Growing Power's design. You will be engaged in the following activities:
We will have tools for you to use (drills, circular saw, reciprocal saw and hammers), but if you have your own cordless and would like to bring it you are welcome to do so. George Lazar, retired shop teacher at Harding High School and Elsa Higby of Grow Youngstown will be leading the project. We will send you home with a spec sheet and sources for materials in case you choose to build your own! Pack a lunch, bring a chair, wear closed shoes and be prepared for the weather.
